Steve had his first A-Fib attack in January 1997. After much frustration, failed drug therapies, and multiple unsuccessful ablation procedures in the U.S., he educated himself about Atrial Fibrillation through an exhaustive research of medical literature and interviews with medical experts. In April 1998, he was cured in Bordeaux, France, through a then relatively new procedure called Focal Catheter Ablation (“pulmonary Vein Isolation”). He was so grateful for his cure, he pledged to help other A-Fib patients find their cure, too. In 2002, he founded Atrial Fibrillation: Resources for Patients (www.A-Fib.com). He continues to research, write, and publish A-Fib.com along with his wife, Patti.

Steve S. Ryan earned a Ph.D. in Educational Communications from the Ohio State University, and for many years taught college level Film (Motion Pictures) Analysis and Television Production. He jumped the fence in 1983, to work in broadcast television at NBC in Burbank, CA. “Retired” in 2001, he devotes most of his time to helping A-Fib patients through A-Fib.com and his A-Fib Coach one-to-to patient consultations. He’s a life-long jogger/sprinter (and occasionally high-jumper) and competes in Masters-level track events. He’s an avid film connoisseur (English language and foreign films), watching every three and four-star rated movie ever made.
